EXPANDING THE SPACE OF ONE ROOM --- LAYERED POTLUCK

I built a dinner table over my double bed. This way, when I have guests, we don’t have to crowd in the shared kitchen and, when people feel too full, tired or tipsy, they can relax in the bed underneath. The surface is equiped with three holes; food can easily be reached through them from the bed, or slipped inside from the table above.

It was like this for a few weeks and I soon realized that I had to sleep under the table every night, in a space about 50 cm. high. This wasn't as claustrophobic as it sounds; in fact, it gave me a sense of security, like being in a warm cabin in winter. The large surface on top proved to be useful for other things also, like drawing and folding laundry.
